No because they are not designed that way, you should be able to watch whist recording a different channel or watch a recording and whilst recording a live channel, assuming it is a multi tuner box.

Update. Sky TV UK recently introduced their Q box, you can chose (at a cost) one or two slave boxes that operate via a home network, no cables at all except power. This allows different channel to be viewed on the slave boxes.
